JAPANESE ALTRA ATHLETES UTMF

This year’s ULTRA TRAIL MOUNT FUJI/ SHIZUOKA TO YAMANASHI (UTMF/STY) are happening in APRIL again this year after being changed from SEPTEMBER last year.

This year’s JAPANESE ALTRA runners include:YUKO YADA– (Tokyo, Japan)
TREAT- Personal Trainer/Massage Therapist (Previous Panasonic Runner)
This is her second attempt at UTMF. The first time she ran the event last year it was shortened to 50KM and she finished 2nd place.
Shoe running in: ALTRA-LONE PEAK 3.5

YUKARI HOSHINO (Tochigi, Japan)
Goal: Optimistic guess-26 hours
This is YUKARI’S 4th attempt at UTMF.
Shoe running in: ALTRA-TIMP

MAME ENDOU (Kanegawa, Japan)
This is MAME’S 3rd go at UTMF. Let’s see if she wears a Mickey Mouse Suit this year…

Here at STRIDE LAB we try our best to fit our friends/customers in shoes that fit their foot properly.

In Japan it can be difficult to find shoes over the size of US10/28cm at your normal shoe shop. Fortunately for you larger feet folks, we carry up to size US12/30cm in some models.

We also understand that many ALTRA users have large feet so we carry  relatively large size shoes.

A new ALTRA shoe hits Japan!

ALTRA BOSTON ESCALANTE RACER

The Escalante received the EDITORS AWARD as the top shoe by RUNNERS WORLD in 2017 so ALTRA decided to make a BOSTON MARATHON MODEL.

Lighter, faster, and more responsive than the original Escalante, the Escalante Racer is supercharged for peak performance on race day.

In order to create an even springier ride, the shoe now features a firmer EGO midsole that is stripped down to offer a low to the ground design. Paired with an Inner Flex system and zero drop platform, the shoe delivers a natural running experience with enhanced flexibility. To further reduce weight, the shoe receives a thinner, race oriented upper. The snugger design helps create optimal midfoot lockdown at faster paces while a wider mesh improves overall breathability. Finished off with a stickier blown rubber outsole, the Escalante has all the essentials when you decide to go fast.

This shoe feels much more quick than the regular Escalante and can accommodate faster runners looking for more responsiveness in their shoe.

Hello Everybody!

STRIDE LAB is starting an English Blog to update all of you English speakers about Stride Lab information.

First of all, STRIDE LAB is a specialty running/outdoor shop located in Tama-City, Tokyo sitting right off of the Tama river about 30 minutes from central Tokyo near Seiseki Sakuragaoka station.

It is a cute little shop Japan’s largest selection ALTRA shoes/Luna Sandals, various running products and outdoor apparel brands such as ICEBREAKER, TETON BROS, and HOUDINI.

Our mission statement at STRIDE LAB is:

“Our purpose at STRIDE LAB is to increase the level of lifetime sports and health at the local/community level. Whether it’s walking, running, or hiking, we support the local community in the lifelong ability of being able to happily enjoy and continue these activities.”

We carry many recovery products and are always happy to offer/suggest advice for running ailments.

We have weekly group runs and have a nice community here in Tama-city.

All of the staff have a conversational level of English and enjoy chatting with foreigners!

We look forward to meeting and running together!
